In his words: "My Grandmother embroidered a poem that hung in my room as a child and young adult. It said, “One ship sails east another west with the selfsame winds that blow, ‘Tis the set of the sails and not the gales which determines the way they go.” I always assumed that I was to set my sail in the direction I wanted to go with family, education, and career. Through my calling and discernment to the diaconate, I have learned that we are to set our sails on God’s will, not our own. Regardless of the winds of the world, God will bring us to the destinations He desires for each of us."
