The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is given to students in second through eighth grade at schools in the Archdiocese of Mobile. Content areas assessed include Reading, English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.

La parroquia de San José de Prattville ha acudido en ayuda de las víctimas del tornado que asotó el condado de Autuaga el 12 de enero.

La alumna de Spring Hill College, Dra. Julia Ponquinette Joyner, que llegó a ser psiquiatra, murió el 7 de enero en Richmond, Va. Fue la primera estudiante afroamericana admitida en el colegio en 1954. Joyner y otros siete compañeros -Mary Andrea Abrams (57), Patricia Blackmon (58), Robert Buchanan (57), Elbert LaLande (57), Cecilia Mitchell (58) y Fannie Motley (56)- eliminaron la segregación racial en la universidad en septiembre de 1954 uniéndose discretamente a la población estudiantil.

Wade del Tribunal Supremo, la archidiócesis de Mobile continuó su larga tradición viajando en peregrinación a Washington, D.C., para la Marcha por la Vida.  Un grupo de jóvenes y adultos subieron a los autobuses y emprendieron el viaje.  Con la anulación del caso Roe contra Wade, no estaba claro cómo sería la Marcha este año.

WASHINGTON — Tens of thousands of pro-life advocates, including pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Mobile, descended upon the nation's capital for the 50th March for Life Jan. 20 — the first national march since the overturn of the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that initially prompted the annual demonstration.

There is so much evil in the world today, so much suffering and so much that is wrong. Faced with the effects of sin in the world, what is a believer to do? Simply put, and as the old saying goes, we can curse the darkness or light a candle. It is our choice.

The COVID-19 pandemic couldn’t shut down the Edmundite Missions’ Bosco Nutrition Center. Nor did Hurricane Zeta in 2020.

MOBILE — Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi and Executive Director of Development and Stewardship for the Archdiocese of Mobile, Mrs. Shannon D. Roh, have announced that the 2023 Catholic Charities Appeal goal is $4.7 million. The basic pledge is $636 per year, which is $53 per month for 12 months. The 2023 Catholic Charities Appeal theme remains "In all things Charity." Each of our ministries funded by the Catholic Charities Appeal emulate St. Matthew’s lesson on the beatitudes as they show Christ’s mercy to those in need throughout the Archdiocese of Mobile.

St. Joseph Parish in Prattville has come to the aid of victims of the tornado that struck Autuaga County on Jan. 12.

Spring Hill College alumna Dr. Julia Ponquinette Joyner, who went on to become a psychiatrist, died Jan. 7, in Richmond, Va. She was the first African-American student admitted to the college in 1954. Joyner and seven other classmates — Mary Andrea Abrams ’57, Patricia Blackmon ’58, Robert Buchanan ’57, Elbert LaLande ’57, Cecilia Mitchell ’58 and Fannie Motley,  ’56; desegregated the college in September 1954 by quietly joining the student population.

MOBILE — McGill-Toolen Catholic High School has named David Faulkner as its new head football coach.

Nuevo año, nuevas resoluciones, nuevo comenzar. Al comienzo de cada año hacemos una lista de las cosas que queremos hacer o cambiar en nuestras vidas. Esta lista es generalmente similar a la del año anterior, contiene las mismas intenciones de mejorar nuestros hábitos alimenticios y ejercitarnos más, de ser mejores personas, de acercarnos más a Dios, de leer más, etc.… La lista es en algunos casos interminable, pero casi siempre la ejecución de la misma es de corta duración.

On the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling, the Archdiocese of Mobile continued its long-standing tradition by traveling on a pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., for the March for Life.  A group of youth and adults boarded buses and made the journey.  With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, it was unclear what the March would look like this year.
