MOBILE - Los jóvenes que representan a las escuelas católicas de los condados de Mobile y Baldwin se congregaron en un ámbito en el que lo máximo era conocer su fe.

Hace 50 años El Sr. Don Dieters, presidente de la PTA católica, nombró al Sr. Ed Clark como presidente del festival de primavera y a la Sra. Pat Setterstrom, presidenta de entradas y publicidad.

Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School senior Julienne Pharrams was the female co-recipient of the 2022 Jimmy Hitchcock Award on May 3.

MOBILE — Young people representing Catholic schools in Mobile and Baldwin counties came to a place where it was cool to know their faith. The Archdiocese of Mobile Office for Evangelization and Family Life sponsored the inaugural Catholic Challenge Cup on May 5 at Our Savior Parish in Mobile. 

Catholic mothers in the greater Dothan area were treated on Mother’s Day to a delectable meal in St. Columba’s parish hall. Organized by Knights of Columbus Grand Knight Jack Porter and supervised by Don Gardino, the event took place after the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 8. 

H. William McAtee has a deep love for both McGill-Toolen Catholic High School and Spring Hill College and wants to share that appreciation. Officials announced recently the creation of the H. William McAtee ’65 Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship will be given to one “worthy graduate of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School who wishes to pursue a Jesuit education at Spring Hill College” beginning with the incoming Spring Hill College freshman class of 202

As the sun set on my 24-hour Vigil on Lough Derg (St. Patrick’s Purgatory) in Ireland, I was ready to sleep. I was up for about 36 hours which does not include my difficulty in sleeping the night before the pilgrimage began. After night prayer on the second day, we were allowed back into the dorms where I had left everything including my shoes on the first day. I collapsed on the bed and fell asleep very quickly.

It is almost summer! Every kid’s dream, and a challenge for many parents. I stand in awe at how hard our kids work. They get up early in the morning and have to get dressed, eat breakfast and get out the door. All of this happens pretty early. Then, they spend the entire day at school and many of them also stay in some sort of afterschool care.

50 Years Ago Mr. Don Dieters, president of Catholic PTA, appointed Mr. Ed Clark as spring festival chairman and Mrs. Pat Setterstrom, ticket and publicity chairman.  Catholic High cheerleaders elected were: Maureen McGinty, Barbara Garritty, Gail Kennedy, Beth Smith, Mickey Eddington, Jane Cammack, Rhonda Davis, Donna Portera and Jan Martin.

MOBILE — It’s appropriate that all are invited to attend Thomas LaPointe’s ordination to the transitional diaconate next month.  After all, he’s well aware many throughout the Archdiocese of Mobile have made this possible.

MOBILE - Los Hermanos del Sagrado Corazón parten de Mobile después de 175 años de ministerio, pero están dejando un legado permanente.

MOBILE — The Brothers of the Sacred Heart are departing Mobile after 175 years of ministry, but they are leaving a lasting legacy. 

Sr. Nélida Naveros Córdova, CDP, Ph.D will teach a class on the Parables of Jesus in Spanish on June 11-12 at Spring Hill College as part of the college’s Summer Institute of Christian Spirituality. 

 Why does stewardship call us to give? Of course, our parish and other charities need our financial support to run ministries, pay bills, staff and much more. However, do we ever consider our need to give? 

Mother's Day is just around the corner. There are a lot of opportunities for us to spend money, but I think that most moms really want their children close by and they want to spend time with them.

50 Years Ago Dr. Robert K. Leigh, Ed.D, College of Education, University of Alabama, spoke on “Why Test” to the Montgomery area Catholic elementary school teachers.
