MOBILE — Young people representing Catholic schools in Mobile and Baldwin counties came to a place where it was cool to know their faith. The Archdiocese of Mobile Office for Evangelization and Family Life sponsored the inaugural Catholic Challenge Cup on May 5 at Our Savior Parish in Mobile.
Catholic mothers in the greater Dothan area were treated on Mother’s Day to a delectable meal in St. Columba’s parish hall. Organized by Knights of Columbus Grand Knight Jack Porter and supervised by Don Gardino, the event took place after the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 8.

As the sun set on my 24-hour Vigil on Lough Derg (St. Patrick’s Purgatory) in Ireland, I was ready to sleep. I was up for about 36 hours which does not include my difficulty in sleeping the night before the pilgrimage began. After night prayer on the second day, we were allowed back into the dorms where I had left everything including my shoes on the first day. I collapsed on the bed and fell asleep very quickly.
It is almost summer! Every kid’s dream, and a challenge for many parents. I stand in awe at how hard our kids work. They get up early in the morning and have to get dressed, eat breakfast and get out the door. All of this happens pretty early. Then, they spend the entire day at school and many of them also stay in some sort of afterschool care.
