Submitted by Marinella Davis For The Catholic Week Peter and Paul, Veronica and Sebastian, Francis and Claire, Ignatius and Kateri, Michael and Gianna were among the saints that attended the annual All Saints’ Day Party at St. Peter Parish in downtown Montgomery on Sunday, Oct. 30.
For the past three years, St. Peter has organized this party to bring all children together in order to celebrate our friends and helpers in heaven.
Held during regular Religious Education hours, the party saw children enrolled in the religious education program dress up as their favorite saint and participate in saint-themed games and activities.
Games included Canonize the Saint, Knock Down Sin, St. Lucy’s Eyes, Pin the Saint, St. Helen’s Helpers, Saints Memory, Guessing Jars, Crack the Code, and Relay to Heaven, while activities saw children make saints paper statues, puzzles, and color bookmarks.
High school students helped the little ones throughout the party and played with them in the most challenging games.
Deacon Jim Labadie was asked to judge and award a prize for the best costume. He ended up picking five! Luckily, there were enough prizes for every winner.
St. Peter Parish pastor Fr. Saleth Mariadoss encouraged the children to keep their costumes for Mass and process in before him. And so the little saints in the making went marching in!
