By Jenny Kopf For The Catholic Week Fairhope — St. Michael Catholic High School broke ground June 7 on its highly anticipated new football and soccer field. The groundbreaking marked a significant milestone in the school's commitment to providing outstanding athletic facilities for its students, faculty and the local community. The new football and soccer field will enhance the school's athletic programs, and further the commitment to “Bring our Cardinals Home,” which was the name of the Capital Campaign to secure funding for athletic complex projects. “This is an exciting step towards getting on campus for our Home football games. We still have a ways to go, but with the continued amazing generosity and support from our community, we are optimistic that we can bring our Cardinals home soon! “ said head football coach, Philip Rivers Athletic Director David Offerle added: “I can’t wait to see our athletes on this new field very soon. We are so lucky to have the room to build athletic facilities adjacent to our school. It will really add to our student experience!” St. Michael Catholic High School is deeply grateful to all the donors, sponsors, and community members who have contributed to the realization of this project. Their generosity and support have made it possible for the school to provide a facility that will positively impact the lives of its students and enrich the community as a whole. The completion of the new football and soccer field is projected for the fall of 2023.
