MOBILE — In the wake of the recent canonization, and in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Our Savior Parish will host a conversation on the ecumenical implications of the life of St. John Henry Newman at 7 p.m. Jan. 23.
Rev. David Tokarz and Rev. Albert Kennington will explore Newman’s theology and pastoral ministry, both as an Anglican and as a Catholic, and they will suggest ways his example can lead us forward in dialogue.
Former news anchor Grip to speak at Spring Hill College
MOBILE — Bob Grip, chair of the Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, and former FOX 10 news anchor will present “Breathing with Both Lungs: An Introduction to Eastern Catholicism.”
The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Gautrelet Room on the campus of Spring Hill College.
As a lifelong member of the Byzantine Catholic Church, Grip grew up with icons, liturgies sung in both English and Old Slavonic, elaborate Easter traditions and lots of incense.
In his presentation, he will give you a glimpse into the history and beauty of the Eastern Churches, which are fully in communion with the Church of Rome.
