By SALLY MCKINNEY For The Catholic Week The Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women will host its convention Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach. The Baldwin-Escambia Deanery is hosting and it also includes the Mobile, Montgomery and Dothan deaneries.
The theme for this 85th annual event is “Hope Anchors the Soul,” with emphasis on hope during these troubling times. Gary Zimak, a leading Catholic speaker on the topic of overcoming anxiety, will be the keynote speaker at the Tuesday night banquet.
Archdiocese of Mobile Vocations Director Fr. Victor Ingalls will speak at the Monday lunch and Archdiocese of Mobile Vicar General Msgr. William J. Skoneki, V.G. will head a panel discussion “Lifeline to Hope” with emphasis on dealing with troubling times and the loss of hope that could lead to suicide. Panel members will include retired crisis counselor Brenda Martin; Alice Hall, a parishioner of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish in Foley; and Allison Moore, executive director of the Jennifer Moore Foundation that strives to help students deal with life issues and excel into adulthood.
A Holy Rosary drawing will be held. The Swarovski Crystal Rosary was handmade by acclaimed New Orleans artisan Winnie Calhoun and donated to the ACCW. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and may be purchased by contacting Joyce Gaar, 251-923-6829 or at the convention.
Also included are the ACCW business meeting on Sunday, a welcome by Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon and a Monday Fun Night hosted by Daphne’s Christ the King Altar Sodality.

Registration fee is $155 per person. Individual cost for the events is Monday lunch and dinner and Tuesday brunch, $40 each. The Tuesday banquet fee is $55. Mobile ACCW quarterly meeting set
The Mobile ACCW will have its quarterly fall meeting and luncheon Sept. 15 at St. Ignatius Parish's Marian Center. Registration is from 9-10 am. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m., with Mass following at 11 am.
Lunch is $13 and will be served after Mass.
