Fr. John J. McCarthy, S.J., returned to St. Joseph Parish, Mobile.
“The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima” elected the following officers: Mrs. Margaret Sands, chairman; Mrs. Mildred Lott, co-chairman; Miss Margaret Bobe, secretary-treasurer; and Fr. Richard M. Myhalyk, S.S.E., spiritual director.
Mrs. A. L. Perez served as chairman of the 56th annual Ladies of Charity Grocery Shower.
Fr. A. William Crandall, S. J., led the retreat for women at the Visitation Monastery.
Officers of the Blessed Virgin Sodality of St. Patrick Parish, Phenix City, were: Mrs. Hubbard W. Bell, president; Mrs. John Willoughby, vice president; Mrs. James D. Reddock, secretary; and Mrs. Jerry Youngstrom, treasurer.
Clergy appointments were: Fr. Peter Cunningham, faculty of McGill-Toolen and assistant pastor, St. Mary, Mobile; Fr. Conan Dalton, pastor, St. Francis Xavier, Mobile; Fr. Finbar Desmond, St. John, Ozark; Msgr. Anthony McDevitt, clergy staff of the Cathedral; and Fr. Edward P. McDevitt, administrator, St. Andrew, Montgomery.
Mrs. Jessie Bly of St. Jude Social Service Center was guest speaker at the Maxwell Air Force Base Catholic Women’s Organization meeting.

Native Mobilian, Fr. Ken Parker, a priest of the Diocese of Raleigh, led the Eucharist Healing Masses at Little Flower Parish, Mobile.
ACCW Dothan Deanery members working to make plans for the convention included Joan Metz, Sue Farnsworth, Angie Little, Hilda McRae, Pat Schrand and Rita Turner.
The St. Mary of Loretto/Montgomery Catholic High School Alumni Association sponsored an Alumni Mass and reception at St. Peter Parish. John Arnold welcomed those gathered to the scene of their graduation over the years.
Looking forward to playing sports on scholarships from various colleges in the Southeast were 1998 McGill-Toolen graduates Adam Harris, Glenn Fairley, Ryan Allenbach, Nick Noletto and Trey Torp.
Michael Shinn, winner of numerous state and regional awards and a 1998 graduate of Montgomery Catholic High, received a full scholarship to the Julliard School in New York.
Warren Dazzio of Mobile was appointed by Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb as the director of Youth Ministry for the Archdiocese of Mobile.
Faustin N. Weber, Principal of Montgomery Catholic High School, announced the hiring of Luann R. Atz as volleyball coach and health teacher.
Coach Steve Sherrin assembled a girls' basketball team to play in the Alabama Sports Festival at the University of South Alabama. The Hot Shots won the gold medal. Members of the team included: Megan Hartman, Abbey Ankersen, Leigh Barter, Austin Brown, Monica Pavlov from St. Ignatius; Jerunda Boykin and Kara O’Malley, Little Flower; Nikki Mead, Jaime Goodroe, Ashley Sherrin, Amanda Manley, Bridgette Kahalley and Sarah Kahalley, St. Dominic.
