Fr. David L. Symes, C.M., former pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Phenix City, was buried in Plainsboro, N.J.
St. Bede Stewardship '97 Team of Montgomery, kicked off the Stewardship ’97 Campaign with the theme “Giving is an Act of Faith.” Chairperson was Ann Sadie Manning. Fr. David Tokarz served as pastor.
St. Columba Parish of Dothan, held its annual Ministry Fair with the central theme and focus “I have no hands but yours.”

Partners of Preservation, a group of citizens dedicated to preserving Mobile history, embarked on a major capital campaign to restore one of the city’s most valued historic treasures, the Convent of the Visitation. Former Mobile Mayor Robert Doyle chaired the campaign. The Convent was founded in the early 1800s by Bishop Michael Portier.
