Thanks to a $1 million gift, Spring Hill College established the first endowed academic chair in its 166-year history. Spring Hill College President William J. Rewak, S.J., accepted the gift from Thomas E. Caestecker of Chicago, the father of 1993 SHC graduate Thomas E. Caestecker Jr.
Milton Andry, Mary Gaines and Carolyn Tillage from the Archdiocese of Mobile were among 63 representatives at the Regional Meeting Planning Committee of the National Black Catholic Congress VIII that was to be held in August 1997 in Baltimore, Md.
