The Knights of Columbus Council at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Prattville supported the national Silver Rose pilgrimage by hosting a prayer service, Rosary and Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, promoting a renewed call to a culture of life locally and nationally.
The KofC Silver Rose Pilgrimage was started in 1960 to commemorate Our Lady's appearance in Mexico to Juan Diego on Dec. 12, 1531.
Her miraculous roses given to Juan Diego later resulted in the baptism of 9 million Mexicans into the Catholic Church.
It is a significant reason Mexico became a Catholic country. She is the patroness of the Americas and the unborn and gives Catholics of the Americas great hope to overcome today's culture of death.
It also expresses the Unity of the Order across national borders.
The Msgr. Rafferty Council of KofC in Prattville, Alabama, is one of 17,000 Knights of Columbus councils that make up the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization.
The approximately 2 million Knights put their faith into action through various charitable causes locally, nationally and internationally through financial contributions and hands-on service.
