Submitted by Michelle Coe For The Catholic Week MONTGOMERY — For nearly 40 years at St. Jude Social Services and Resurrection Catholic Missions, Salena Selmar Moore has served as a social worker. A retirement celebration was held in her honor Oct. 27 at the Capital City Club in Montgomery.
As Interfaith Community Outreach director for Resurrection, Moore has tended to indigent elders, and the families of the working poor with competence, caring and compassion.
Sr. Gilda Bell led the gathering with the opening prayer and blessing over the meal.
Tributes were given by Fr. Manuel Williams, C.R., Mrs. Michelle Coe and Mrs. Dorothy Barlow.
Moore's presence will be missed in the office but it is time for her to enjoy the fruits of her labors from her many years in the social work arena.
