50 Years Ago Fr. John J. McCarthy, S.J., returned to St. Joseph Parish, Mobile. “The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima” elected the following officers: Mrs. Margaret Sands, chairman; Mrs. Mildred Lott, co-chairman; Miss Margaret Bobe, secretary-treasurer; and Fr. Richard M. Myhalyk, S.S.E., spiritual director.
50 Years Ago Fr. Eugene Sheridan, C.M., and Mrs. Clara Ford directed a summer reading, arts and crafts, and recreation program for 32 children in the Auburn area at St. Michael’s Center.
50 Years Ago Spring Hill College published a new magazine entitled “Spring Hill Today.” Mother Marguerite Marie, Superior of the Little Sisters of the Poor, left Mobile for a new assignment in Phoenix. She was succeeded as superior by Sister Margaret Mary.
50 Years Ago Reverend A. William Crandall, S.J., former provincial of all Southern Province Jesuits and President of Spring Hill College, gave the closed retreat for women at the Visitation Retreat House.
