By The Catholic Week St. Pius X Catholic School in Mobile announced that Emily Dolan will serve as the school’s new principal beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Dolan will succeed Lauren Alvarez, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Alvarez is currently in her 25thyear as school principal and has served 41 years altogether at St. Pius X. Dolan was born and raised in Mobile and attended Catholic school from kindergarten through high school. She has taught in Catholic schools since 2014 and has been a kindergarten teacher at Corpus Christi Catholic School in Mobile since 2017. Dolan also taught third and fourth grade CCD at St. Mary Parish in Mobile for nearly four years. “My faith has been a huge part of my life, especially in becoming a teacher,” Dolan said in a video statement released by the school. “I’ve always felt the calling to be in education.” Dolan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Spring Hill College and a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Portland. She anticipates earning her Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of South Alabama later this year. “St. Pius X School has offered Catholic education for many years and (Lauren) Alvarez has done a wonderful job fostering a community based on the academics, faith and love,” she said. “I am so grateful to be given this opportunity to continue this foundation and to build a bright and exciting future for our school.”
