By The Catholic Week MONTGOMERY — Montgomery Catholic, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A, came out with a 42-21 victory over visiting McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in what was a historic game for the schools and the Catholic community in Alabama. It was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi and several priests of the Archdiocese of Mobile were in attendance. Before the game, Archbishop Rodi and fellow priests prayed with both teams at midfield.
Montgomery Catholic controlled the contest from the onset, led by running back Jeremiah Cobb's four touchdowns. The Knights led 28-7 at halftime and built a 42-7 lead.
Wide receiver Anthony Eager led McT with three touchdowns.
The teams will play again next season, this time in Mobile. McT will also host St. Michael Catholic High School for the first time on Sept. 23.
