25 Years Ago Fr. Matthew J. O’Connor celebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving celebrating the 25th anniversary of his ordination to Priesthood. Fr. O’Connor was serving as pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Parish in Tillman’s Corner.

The parish center at Prince of Peace Parish, Mobile, was the scene of a late morning fire sustaining at least $25,000 worth of damage.
Msgr. Francis O’Connor celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Semmes.
St. Mary School graduate Shameka Carter was chosen for the People to People Ambassador Program traveling to London and the areas surrounding the famous city.
The Very Rev. G. Warren Wall, chancellor of the Archdiocese of Mobile, was elected executive secretary of the North American College Alumni Association. Fr. Wall is an alumnus of the College located in Rome.
More than 50,000 pages of sacramental records were placed on microfilm. The Chancery collected close to 500 sacramental record books from parishes throughout the archdiocese that contained baptismal, marriage and other sacramental records that dated as far back as 1704.
Paulist Fr. Michael J. Lux, C.S.P., died in Chicago. He served many years in the Diocese of Mobile including as moderator of the Cecelian Chorale, Port Chaplain at the Maritime Club, St. Vincent Parish, Mobile, and Our Lady of Fatima, Prichard.
