Gus Bertagnolli Sr. was named Knights of Columbus Council 2737 Man of the Year at the buffet dinner held at the council home in Daphne.
Jim Crabtree, president of St. Dominic Parish council presented a check to Asst. Pastor, Fr. Bernard McKenna, who was leaving to serve on the South American Missions.
Four Providence School of Nursing students received recognition as outstanding graduates: Louise Provost of Foley; Frankie Weiss, Linda Vogtner and Mary Ann Walsh, Mobile.
Leo Calagaz was presented a trophy for Ideal Graduate at McGill Institute and Mike Cornelius merited the Student Athlete Trophy.
Thirty -six graduates received diplomas at the 95th Commencement Exercises of Montgomery Catholic High School held at St. Peter Church. Debbie Regent was Valedictorian and Charles Harbin, Salutatorian.

Fr. David Carucci and Fr. Vincent Phan were ordained to serve as priests to serve the Archdiocese of Mobile by Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Bayou La Batre’s 46th Annual Blessing of the Fleet at St. Margaret Parish took place May 21. Reigning over the festivities was Fleet Blessing Queen Alisha Ann Lambeth and the blessing was given by Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb.
Twelve schools from Mobile and Baldwin counties participated in the 64th Annual CYO Field Day at the Texas Street recreation facilities. Capturing first place in the Blue Division was St. Ignatius with 278 1/3 points and winning the Red Division was Our Lady of Lourdes with 269 2/3 points.
Members of the Serra Club, seminarians and priests of the Archdiocese of Mobile gathered for their annual golf tournament and luncheon at the Spring Hill College Golf Course. The winning team was Hardy, Pouliot, Brookshire and Halladay. Rev. Mark Neske, vocations director, helped arrange this event for the seminarians.
Fr. Cletus Meagher was selected as the ninth Abbot of St. Bernard Abbey in the 104-year history of the monastery.
McGill-Toolen High’s Tricia Burch was named Player of the Year in golf.
