Bishop John L. May announced the reappointment of Rev. Michael Lux, C.S.P., as pastor of St. Vincent Parish in Mobile.
New officers of St. Pius X Altar Sodality in Mobile were Mrs. E. B. Purvis, president; Mrs. E. W. Parson, vice president; Mrs. A. M. Kahalley, treasurer; and Mrs. T. D. Thornton, secretary.
Gerald Darring, a member of St. Matthew Parish in Mobile, received a teaching post at Polish Catholic University in Poland.
Clergy appointments included: Rev. Matthew Sindik, principal of Montgomery Catholic High School and religious instructor; and Rev. F. Charles Troncale appointed religious instructor at Bishop Toolen High School.
New officers of the Catholic Men’s Breakfast Club in Mobile were elected at the breakfast at the Visitation Monastery: Frank Drey, president; Joseph Torrans, vice president; Green T. Waggoner, secretary; and Allen Duffey, treasurer.
Both special awards for scholarship and the alumni award for nursing excellence were presented to Malinda Ann Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Jones of Prattville. Bishop John L. May presented the awards at the graduation of St. Margaret’s School of Nursing. Sister Scholastica, D.C., was administrator of the hospital.

Fr. Michael L. Farmer and Fr. James S. Kee were ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception by Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb to serve the Archdiocese of Mobile.
Sister Margaret Mary Williams pronounced her perpetual vows as a Sister of the Visitation on the feast of the Visitation May 31, 1995. On Pentecost Sunday, June 4, 1995, Sister Theodosia Sulek took her vows as a Visitandine.
Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb made the following pastoral appointments: Rev. John P. Barbernity, appointed pastor of Immaculate Conception, Orrville and pastor of St. Joseph, Camden; Rev. Peter J. Cunningham appointed pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Mobile; Rev. Msgr. Timothy J. Deasy, appointed pastor of Christ the King, Daphne; Rev. Brendan J. Kellar appointed pastor to St. John the Evangelist Parish, Ozark; Rev. Albert P. Kelly appointed Pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Millbrook and St. Mark’s Parish, Wetumpka; Rev. Hugh N. Maguire appointed pastor of St. John Parish, Enterprise and the Church of St. Mary, Geneva; Rev. David I. McGuinness appointed pastor of St. Edmund-by-the-Sea, Dauphin Island; Rev. Gordon N. Milsted appointed Pastor of St. Lawrence Parish, Fairhope; and Rev. John J. Stryjewski, appointed Pastor of St. John Parish, Grand Bay.
The Mobile Theater Guild’s production of “Marvin’s Room” was selected to represent the United States, State of Alabama and the Mobile area at the Dundalk International Theater Festival in Dundalk, Ireland. The Mobile Theater Guild was the only representative from the United States. Mobile Theater Guild Director was Michael McKee.
