Rev. Msgr. J. Edwin Stuardi, administrator of Corpus Christi Parish, Mobile, was honored for his efforts in establishing guidance services in the secondary schools of the diocese, while serving as Superintendent of Schools.
The Catholic Week’s first issue of 1970 carried pictures of the installation of Bishop John L. May in Mobile and Bishop Joseph G. Vath in Birmingham.
Julius Ericksen was named chairman of Spring Hill College’s three-day Homecoming events.
St. Jude Elementary School PTA purchased over $2,000 worth of education equipment for the library under the leadership of Mrs. Joseph Laster, president.
McGill Institute Class of 1947 held its first reunion at the International Trade Club. Bernie Diamond served as master of ceremonies and former class president John Lyden expressed gratitude tot he Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
Archbishop Thomas J. Toolen was honored during a banquet held at Mobile Municipal Auditorium selecting him as “Mobilian of the Year.
Montgomery Catholic High PTA, under the direction of president Col. John J. Josnow, purchased audio-visual equipment for the school.”

Theme of the 1995 Catholic Charities Appeal was “Love in Deed.” Fr. William J. Skoneki, archdiocesan director, announced the goal of the drive was $2,300,000 million.
Fr. James F. Zoghby and Fr. James S. Boudreaux, pastor and associate pastor of Corpus Christi Parish in Mobile presented “A Proclamation of the Good News” at the annual Ecumenical Luncheon at St. Columba Parish Hall in Dothan. The ecumenical luncheon was sponsored by the St. Columba Catholic Women’s Club.
St. Pius X Parish showed their appreciation to Sr. Theresa and Mrs. Alice Tibbetts for their 25 years of service.
Cecil Reeves Spotswood, a seminarian studying for the Archdiocese of Mobile, was initiated by the Most Rev. David E. Foley, D.D., Bishop of Birmingham, into the ministry of reader and the ministry of alcolyte at ceremonies at Notre Dame Chapel.
Mrs. Kim “Ceil” Striplin was named to chair the fourth annual Fashion Show and luncheon at Marriott’s Grand Hotel in Point Clear, to benefit the Mercy Medical Patient Charity Fund.
Varsity Football Awards were presented by the Montgomery Catholic High School Booster Club to Tim Crowley, Clark Allen, Ben Darby and Mike Caple. The team was coached by Charlie Jones.
Sister Lorine Fischer, S.S.N.D, who formerly taught elementary and high school grades in Alabama, died at St. Mary of the Pines in Chatawa, Miss.
