Submitted by Kim Dunne For The Catholic Week
MOBILE — President, Fr. Bry Shields and Principal, Mrs. Michelle Haas are excited to introduce Amanda Gonzales as the new advancement director for McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. Gonzales will replace Kim Dunne who announced her retirement earlier this year.
“We are very blessed to have Mrs. Amanda Gonzales join our team at McGill-Toolen as the new director of advancement. Her professional background and experience, her proven effectiveness as a volunteer, and, most important, her love for God, family and the Church, will be the firm foundation for success in her new role,” Fr. Shields said.
Having worked in marketing, public relations, fundraising and development for more than 20 years, Gonzales brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team at McT. With a background in community engagement, she has held positions in alumni relations, development and volunteer services. In addition to her professional duties, she served as president of the Junior League Mobile, Inc. from 2020-21 where she navigated the changes brought upon the community with the COVID-10 pandemic. She has served in numerous leadership roles including president of the Public Relations Council of Alabama, co-chair for Dancing with the Stars Jacket Style, and is a 2016 Leadership Mobile Graduate.
"I am excited to join the McGill-Toolen Catholic team. Working as a Yellow Jacket volunteer for the past few years, I have developed a deep passion for the school. I look forward to building on the foundation that has been set and am excited to see what the future holds," Gonzales said.
Gonzales is a graduate from the University of South Alabama and longtime parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She is married to RJ Gonzales and they have two children—Reese, a 2024 McT graduate, and Jay, who will be a senior in the 2024-25 academic year.
