Fr. Patrick Driscoll, pastor of St. Dominic Parish in Mobile, will be the guest speaker at the “Cast the Vision” dinner at the Original Oyster House on the Causeway, at 6 p.m. Jan. 27.
Fr. Driscoll will speak on “Celebrating LIFE and Standing for LIFE in Mobile.”
Dinner is $25 per person and can be paid at the door, but seat reservations may be made by calling or texting Mae Rehm at 251-554-2032 or emailing [email protected].
Those in attendance can also receive a packet of materials to help promote 40 Days for Life. The dinner is a prelude to the 23rd 40 Days for Life Mobile campaign. The campaign runs from Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26 to Palm Sunday, April 5.
It is a peaceful, highly-focused, nondenominational initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities and grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history.
The vigil will take place outside Planned Parenthood in Mobile. All participants are asked to sign a statement of peace, pledging to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner.
According to Shawn Carney, president of 40 Days for Life: “40 Days for Life has generated proven life-saving results since its beginning in 2004 in Bryan/College Station, Texas. During 25 previously coordinated campaigns, over 950 communities have participated in this effort. More than 1 million people – representing some 19,000 churches – have committed to pray and fast. And we know of at least 16,700 unborn children whose lives were spared from abortion during 40 Days for Life campaigns.”
