Mrs. Margaret Stein was elected President of the Mobile Chapter of Catholic Nurses Association. Other officers were: Mrs. Mary Brown, 1st Vice-president; Miss Gloria Barahoma, Treasurer; Miss Martha Bradley, 2nd Vice-president and Mrs. Angela Dunlap, Secretary.
Mrs. Charles Barter, Jr., served as Chairman of the Corpus Christi Book Fair held at the school in Mobile.
Very Rev. William J. Rimes, S.J., president of Spring Hill College announced three prominent Mobilians were named to the Board: Bishop John L. May, Joseph N. Langan and Rev. James F. Dorrill.
Clergy appointments included Rev. Msgr. J. Edwin Stuardi, acting administrator, who was named pastor of Corpus Christi Parish in Mobile.
Anna Watts and Bill Lauten played the leading roles of Mr. and Mrs. John Clerry in the Mobile Theater Guild’s production of “The Subject was Roses.”
Members of St. Catherine Parish, Mobile united with five non-Catholic churches for a World Day of Prayer.

The 64th annual Catholic Charities Appeal totaled $2,613,698 in pledges according to Fr. Bill Skoneki, Catholic Charities Director and Joan Browning, Archdiocesan Chairperson.
Dr. Regina Benjamin, whose family practive clinic in Bayou La Batre had drawn national attention from Time Magazine, was the keynote speaker at the celebration of “Valentines” by Catholic Social Services in Mobile. She was listed among the fifty most promising young people in the country.
Spring Hill College Athletic Hall of Fame Chairman Jim Rebarchak announced the following new members to be inducted were Francis O’Rourke, Kevin Ollis, Dr. John Pitman, Tim Size and Glen Murphy.
Ms. Jerry Sommer, Executive Director of the Shelter for Battered Women and Their Children, was the guest speaker at the Baldwin-Escambia Deanery of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women.
Chuck Raysich, a member of the Montgomery Parochial Education Association presented Our Lady Queen of Mercy School a check for $20,000 to the OLQM Endowment to celebrate the opening of Catholic Schools Week.
St. John Resurrection School had an artist in residence, award winning sculpter and painter from Poland, Mr. Wiktor Szestalo, through a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts for the school year 1994-1995.
McGill-Toolen senior John Meshad was granted one of 20 walk-on slots for the University of Georgia football program.
