Each October the Catholic Church in the United States observes Respect Life Month as a time to focus on the protection of God’s precious gift of human life. The theme of the month varies from year to year, but it usually concentrates our attention on the issue of abortion.

The Board of Governors of the Order of the Fleur De Lis elected Knight Commander Stephen F. Koach of Enterprise as the 11th Grand Chancellor during its annual meeting Aug. 26, in Natchez, Miss.

October is traditionally considered “Respect Life Month.”  When people hear the phrase, “Respect Life,” many immediately connect this to the issue of protecting the preborn from being murdered in the barbaric practice called abortion.  It makes sense for this to happen.  The most vulnerable persons among us are those who cannot speak for themselves.  Many heroic people have championed the cause of protecting life in this vulnerable phase of their lives.
